About

A tiny tool that does one thing well

NoScreenSleep exists because the obvious search — “keep my screen awake” — used to end in a sketchy download, a menu-bar app you only needed once, or a settings maze. A browser tab can do it better.

Why it exists

Modern browsers ship a purpose-built capability — the Screen Wake Lock API — that keeps a display on while a page is visible. It's private by design, needs no installation, and works on nearly every current device. The only missing piece was a fast, honest front door to it. That's this site.

The rules it's built on

  • Free, for real. No accounts, no paywall, no “pro” tier. The tool is a static page; providing it costs almost nothing.
  • Private by architecture, not by promise. There are no analytics and no cookies, so there is nothing to leak. See the privacy page for the complete list.
  • Fast beats pretty. Pages are pre-rendered HTML with system fonts and almost no JavaScript — the tool is interactive immediately, even on hotel Wi-Fi.
  • Honest about limits. A web page can't override a closed lid, a hidden tab or an enforced lock policy — and this site says so rather than pretending otherwise.
  • Every page earns its place. Each guide answers a different question for a different device or browser. No filler, no keyword-stuffed duplicates.

What it's not

It's not an app store product, a background service, a battery manager or a system tweaker. It's one web page, doing one job, that gets out of your way.

Supporting it

If the tool saved your presentation or your sanity, the best thanks is a link — tell a colleague, or mention it where you write online. Questions and corrections: hello@noscreensleep.com.
